Car ablaze on the road to Drouin

A man was driving to work outside the Gippsland town when his vehicle started smoking.

The driver told the Monitor that after noticing smoke escape from under the hood he pulled over and got out of the car before fire slowly engulfed the vehicle.

If your vehicle catches fire, Fire Rescue Victoria says knowing what to do could save your life.

  • It recommends you turn off the ignition, place the vehicle in park and engage the hand brake.

  • Then evacuate the vehicle, shut the doors and move a safe distance back.
