Fish Creek Tea Cosy Festival celebrates the humble pot sock with two weeks of knitting competitions and merrymaking
From a local brass band marching through the street to a town hall filled with extravagant home-made warmers, the biennial event was a wholesome day of fun.
The Monitor visited the Fish Creek Tea Cosy Festival on Saturday afternoon. After strolling through the market stalls on Falls Road, a brass band made up of Fish Creek locals greeted visitors with a high-energy performance.
The band marched through the street and guided everyone watching towards the Fish Creek Memorial Hall, which housed an exhibition of locally crafted tea jackets competing for the coveted best cosy award.
There were warmer designs of all sorts including a rose garden, fruit platter, cat, large red chicken and ball of sheep.

A farmyard scene knitted by Alison Copeland, which won an honourable mention.
