Cinnamon scrolls and all-day breakfast: New owners breathe life back into South Gippsland cafe

The Heartland Cafe in Poowong was closed for more than a year, now Udara Fernando and her husband have taken up the reigns.

The Monitor’s Jacob Wallace stopped in to chat to Fernando about the new business.

🗣️ “It’s bubbling with the local community,” Fernando said. “It’s had a great response at this point.”

Asked what her favourite thing on the menu was Fernando said: “The cinnamon scrolls, they are divine. A little bit of heating up does magic to it.”
