WATCH: How to keep Phillip Island fully charged

The region has seven new community batteries aimed at lowering the risk of blackouts and providing energy resilience.

Simon Helps, chair of Totally Renewable Phillip Island, told the Monitor the island’s new community batteries will soak up the solar power coming from unused holiday homes.

“Instead of having to put a residential battery on a house that hasn't got anyone living in it, we can put it in the community and share the benefit around,” he said.
