Top goal scorers, winners and losers in Round 5 of Gippsland football and netball
There were many dominant performances from teams and players in the Gippsland League over the weekend

Round 5 of the Gippsland League has been and gone and the Monitor has you covered with all the results, ladders and top goal scorer information you need to stay up to date with how your team is performing in this year’s competition.
The Morwell Football and Netball club wore pink in Round 5 to raise money and awareness for breast cancer. The club ended up raising a whopping $14,000 for Breast Cancer Awareness and were also assisted by Leongatha Football Netball Club in doing so. A big shout out to these two clubs raising money for such a great cause!
Netball A Grade
Moe and Warragul kept their spots at the top of the ladder in A Grade Netball, both undefeated so far this season. After handing the Leongatha Parrots their second loss of the season, Morwell is right behind the top two in third place having only lost once.
Warragul’s Emma Ryde notched a colossal 74 point game against Traralgon (Warragul scored a total of 75 points). Moe’s Ashlea Mawer put 58 in the net and Charlize Traumanis was in third place with 45 points for Drouin.

Netball B Grade
In the B Grade League it was Leongatha and Wonthaggi that remained lossless at the top of the ladder having secured comfortable wins over Sale and Morwell. Moe remains in third place after keeping Drouin winless in round 5.
Moe’s Elise Demczuk won top point scorer of the week nabbing 65 buckets for the Lions. Warragul player Zoe Ryde was in second place with 34 of the Gull’s 36 points in their loss against Traralgon. Wonthaggi’s Milly Jobe put away 30 of the Power’s 43 points in their dominant win over Sale Magpies.

Football Seniors
In seniors this week, Moe, Wonthaggi and Leongatha all notched their fourth win and stayed at the top of the league with only one loss for each team. Bairnsdale and Traralgon, the fourth and fifth seed, both came away with wins as well, solidifying the dominance of the top five teams on the ladder.
There were a few thumpings this week so goals were easier to come by in some matchups more than others. All three top goal scorers from round 5 were Moe Lions players. Ben Crocker slotted a whopping 8 goals against the Drouin Hawks. Justin Morrow landed in second place with 5 snags and Declan Keilty with 4.

Football Reserves
The top four teams separated themselves from the pack in the reserve league. Leongatha, Traralgon, Wonthaggi and Moe remained at the top of the league by coming away from round 5 with their fourth win of the season.
Leongatha Parrot’s Jake Cochrane took out the top goal scorer stat, sending five through the big sticks. Traralgon’s Damien Hough and Moe’s Jaryn Makepeace tied for second place, both scoring 4.
