Thornton’s Bakery

Vegemite and cheese sausage rolls at Thornton’s Bakery.
Leongatha’s Thornton’s Bakery underwent renovations last year and the new space is complete with a colourful new logo of a hippopotamus baker on the front of the shop.
Located on Leongatha’s main drag, it’s hard to miss. The staff are friendly and the pies are high quality.
Where: 32-34 McCartin Street, Leongatha.

Kelly’s Bakery

Kelly’s Bakery in Korumburra.
It’s hard to miss Kelly’s when driving through Korumburra due to the painting of Ned Kelly menacingly holding two baguettes on the side of the building. The bakery is a staple of the town for a reason: it’s consistent and delicious.
We suggest going for the Ned Kelly pie, which has beef mince, bacon, melted cheese and a whole egg on top.
Where: 16-22 Commercial Street, Korumburra.

The Monitor taste tested a delectable pepper steak pie from this establishment but the full review is yet to be published.

Located in a shed in Traralgon’s industrial area, Missen Links Burgers is a bit off the beaten track but if you know, you know.
This is also one of the most recommended bakeries in the Monitor’s comments and the pies are top tier.
We recommend any of the brisket pie options.
