Once a connection between Melbourne and Port Albert, Korumburra train station is getting redeveloped
The station is now part of the Great Southern Rail Trail, a 131km walking and riding trail from Yarram to Nyora in South Gippsland.

The Heritage-listed train station at Korumburra was opened in February 1891.
This station was superseded by a Queen Anne-style building in 1906-1908. It’s this building, with its symmetrical brick layout, rows of painted sash windows and central triangular pediment, that you see today.
The trainline originally linked Melbourne with Port Albert in the east, but passenger trains on the line ceased beyond Cranbourne Station in July 1993.
Today, the station is no longer in use. In 2008 there was some speculation the Cranbourne line might be extended and the station would reopen, but it wasn’t to be.
