Filling dinners for under $20 in Warragul
We’ve compiled a list of affordable meals to keep your belly and your bank account full.

The cost of living is still hitting all of our wallets, so the Gippsland Monitor has decided to create a list of dinners in Warragul that will get you fed for under $20. And yes, we mean actual meals.
It’s hard to get by on a budget so we’ve found some pub specials and local favourite restaurants that’ll keep your tummy full. There’s no big fast-food chains on this list and no cop-outs with smaller entre food items.

The Blue Dolphin Fish & Chips

This local Warragul fish and chip shop has a heap of options for under $15, which is a huge bonus to the weekly savings.
All of their burgers are under $15. This includes an $8 plain burger or $12 to get that burger with “the lot”. For $12 you can get a schnitzel burger, veggie burger, fish burger or plain steak burger.
A little kids pack (one flake with chips or 3 nuggets) is only $7.
A small pack (one flake with chips or five calamari rings with chips) is only $12.5.
A classic pack (one flake, one dim sim, one potato cake and chips) is only $15.5.
You can also fill up on extras here as well. You’re able to order individual potato cakes or dim sims, which go for $1.5 each and a single chicken nugget or chicken strip goes for $1.2.

Commercial Hotel Warragul

Normally, the Commercial Hotel Warragul wouldn’t be on this list – but all hail the glorious pub specials.
The Commercial Hotel offers two specials pub meals during the week which brings their prices down to $20.
On Thursday nights a selection of their burgers go down to a $20 price tag. All serves come with chips.
On Wednesday nights the Commercial Hotel’s chicken parma’s with chips and salad is reduced to $20, and it’s also trivia night on Thursday so you can stimulate your gut and your brain at the same time.

Papas Rich Noodle

There’s a range of options on the menu at Papas Rich Noodle that are under $20.
Chicken Phad Thai, Malaysian mee goreng, curry laksa, teriyaki chicken udon, sweet and sour pork or honey soy chicken are all available under $20.

Bank Hotel

A fried chicken burger at Bank Hotel.
Bank Hotel have a couple of pub specials during the week to help affordability.
Every Sunday the venue offers their beef, chicken and vege burgers for $20. Each burger comes with chips and a dipping sauce.
You can also grab a $20 parma or $20 original schnitzel every Thursday night.

Ken’s Hot Wok

Bao’s available at Ken’s Hot Wok.
Some of the dishes at Ken’s Hot Work creep over the $20 limit but there’s still a large range here to select from. Chicken chow mein noodles, chicken with cashew nuts, mongolian pork and honey chicken are all available for under $20.
Plus there is a good selection of affordable sides on the menu here. Wonton soup for $6, combination fried rice for $11, two spring rolls for $5 and a bag of prawn crackers for $3.

Ripper Rooster

Ripper Rooster is a small local takeaway spot that has a few options worth mentioning.
For $18 you can purchase a quarter chicken with chips and salad.
For $18 you can grab a fish and chip pack which includes; one fried flake, one dim sim, one crab stick, one potato cake and chips.
For $18 you can get a fish, lamb or chicken souvlaki.
