Top goal scorers and results from Round 4 of the Gippsland League's football and netball games

Clubs settle into a rhythm as the ladder separates the serious contenders from the pack

As the dust settles on round four of the Gippsland Football and Netball League, it’s beginning to become clear which teams are the serious contenders for the premiership flags.

Netball A Grade

Drouin versus Sale.

Moe and Warragul are sitting pretty on top of the ladder with zero losses to their names.

Maffra put on a great showing and came close to nabbing their first win but just couldn’t get over Traralgon.

Top goals scorer went to Emma Ryde, who picked up 72 of Warragul’s 74 points, Moe’s Ashlea Mawer scored 49 while Morwell’s Holly Stephens and Drouin’s Charlize Traumanis swished 46 points.

Netball B Grade

Leongatha and Wonthaggi still haven’t lost so far this season – with wins over Moe and Morwell. Both Maffra and Drouin are right on their tails, however, having only suffered one loss this season.

The three big point scorers from the weekend were Warragul’s Zoe Ryde, who topped her 53 points last week with a 60-point haul this weekend. Meanwhile, Leongatha’s Emma Ton scored 43 points and Drouin’s Tess Mapleson ended her day with 38.

Football Seniors

Moe, Wonthaggi and Leongatha are tied in the number one position now – with Leongatha suffering their first loss, coming up short againstMoe. Drouin remained winless, though put up a solid fight against Sale.

There was a three way split for top goal scorer of the round with Sale’s Thomas Campbell, Leongatha’s Jenson Garnham and Morwell’s Brandon McDonald all snagging four goals.

Football Reserves

Four teams are vying for the top spot in the reserves with Leongatha, Wonthaggi, Traralgon and Moe all tied on top of the ladder with only one loss apiece.

Top goal scorer of the round went to Leongatha’s Zane Waixel, who slotted eight between the big sticks as Leongatha pumped Drouin by 153 points.
