Sign your sporting club up to Orange Round and take a stand against family and domestic violence
Gippsland has some of the worst rates for family violence in all of Victoria, Orange Round is attempting to make a difference.

Across Gippsland this May sporting clubs and teams are being encouraged to sign up to Orange Round to help raise awareness about the impacts of sexual assault, family and domestic violence, and violence against woman and children in the community.
Orange Round runs twice a year in Gippsland, once in summer and once in winter. This round will be running from May 1 to 25.

Players are encouraged to wear orange armbands to show their solidarity and clubs often use orange goalpost covers.
The concept arose from the United Nations’ International Orange Day, which aims to raise awareness about violence against women on the 25th day of any month.
Orange Round in Gippsland has been running since 2015. It is a collaboration between Gippsland Centre Against Sexual Assault, AFL Gippsland, GippSport, Gippsland Women’s Health and Netball Victoria.
Gippsland League will be taking part in Orange Round a bit later, raising awareness for the cause during their round of games on Saturday, June 21.
Domestic and family violence rates in Gippsland
Gippsland Shires are amongst the highest in calls to police for domestic and family violence support in Victoria.
According to statistics released by Family Violence in Gippsland, every local government area in Gippsland recorded a 12 percent or more increase in calls to police for assistance in 2024.
Per 100,000 people, East Gippsland Shire has the highest rates of family violence support calls in all of Victoria.
Latrobe Valley has the second highest in the state and Wellington Shire the seventh highest in 2024.
