We compiled a list of fun things to get up to with the family as the first week of school holidays is here

With school holidays here it’s time to get out of the house and go explore the best parts of Gippsland with the family. There is so much to do this weekend, from food and wine festivals to a Grand Prix on Phillip Island to arts and craft events at Inverloch and Cowes. Checkout this list for ideas and we’ll keep you updated if anything new pops up!
This list covers the first week of the school holidays but we’ll be adding more Eastern weekend events here soon, stay tuned to check them out!

Go see a local footy or netball game
Both the football and netball seasons kick off this weekend so there will be lots of excitement, sausages and goal scoring going on across Gippsland, check out our full list of games here:
Walk for the Kids - San Remo
Go for a walk along the idyllic coast line of San Remo before enjoying some kids games and a raffle at the San Remo Hotel.
There are two walks that can be undertaken on the day.
A 7.5 km coastal walk starts at 9am. Buses will collect walkers from the San Remo Hotel and drop them back once the walk is completed.
There is also a 3km walk in San Remo that is designed for those with younger children or pushing prams. There is trivia and kids spotto during the walk to keep the young ones entertained.

Inverloch Art Show

Artwork on display at the Inverloch art show.
The 37th Inverloch Art Show opens on Good Friday night. There’s plenty of art on display and for sale.
All proceeds go to Bass Coast Health to purchase food boxes to be distributed to local families in need so come down and help out a good cause.
When: April 18.

Tarra Festival

There are plenty of Eastern bunnies at Tarra festival.
The Tarra Festival is held in Yarram over the long weekend. There is an opening ceremony for the festival at 7:30pm tonight (April 17) then over the weekend there are art shows, community and sporting events, markets and live music.
The street parade starts at 9am on Saturday April 19.
When: April 18-21.

Coal Creek - Easter Egg Hunt

The Eastern bunny takes a ride on the Coal Creek train.
The Korumburra Lions Club hosts an Easter egg hunt in Coal Creek. There will be a DJ, Easter bunnies, a colouring contest and plenty of other activities for the kids.
There is also a barbeque stall that supports the Korumburra Lions Club so come grab a snag and hunt for some chocolate eggs.
When: April 20.
